For many of us, we don’t even realize that we’ve been pulled into a world created by someone else’s words, opinions, or beliefs. It’s as if we’ve abandoned our own senses, blindly accepting what others tell us without question. In a way, we’ve “drunk the Kool-Aid,” losing touch with our ability to discern what’s right for us.
We allow the words of others to fuel our anxiety and shape our reality. If someone says it, we assume it must be true, letting their perspective define our experience.
But here’s the truth: You are the creator of your own life. You hold the power to shape your experiences. At any moment, you can choose to let go of a thought that doesn’t serve you and create a new one. It doesn’t have to be harsh or dramatic—sometimes, it’s as simple as walking away from negativity and giving yourself a pep talk.
Be confident in where you are in life. If you want change, remember this: change starts with your thoughts. Thoughts lead to action, and action leads to transformation. That transformation could be a new job, a new belief, or a new perspective. And as I often say, a belief is just a thought—one that can be changed at any time.
Most importantly, be kind to yourself. Don’t wait for someone else to step in and cheer you on. Be your own cheerleader. If you want to lose weight, cheer yourself on every step of the way. If you want to enjoy that plate of fries, don’t let someone’s opinion stop you.
Take control of your destiny by controlling your thoughts. Let the words of others flow through you, but don’t let them define you. You have the power to create the life you want—one thought at a time.
